Our Story

It all began with a group of friends, from all walks of life, (Servicemen, Doctors, Engineers, Housewives etc.), who would meet regularly enjoying each others company, the affection and bonhomie, the often heated discussions and debates, the sharing of each others life.

These discussions were about anything and everything that mattered to people in their lives : success and failure, love, fear, relationships, trust, faith, hope, hate, etc. the whole gamut of human emotion and experience, and in this sharing each person contributed to the other persons lives in surprising impactful ways.

In the process there emerged without any conscious intent, a wisdom about life and living which guided each one of them to live a life of joy, fulfilment and growth for self and family.

One common realization for each of them was that they were not just enjoying life and living but seemed to be celebrating in their lives. Nothing about their circumstances had changed, same family, same profession, same activities etc. and yet everything was better. They themselves had changed in some subtle but powerful way.

Most of the group were on the cusp of transiting into middle age and one common regret that they all had was that were experiencing this wisdom a little late and all wished that they had gotten this earlier.

They wanted their family and friends to also enjoy the benefits and to even spread the word as far as it could go. Further they realised that the more the people who participated in the conversations the finer would be the quality of wisdom which develops.

The idea for the “Holistic Living Centre” was born. The HLC was intended to develop and conduct programs to share and grow this understanding and knowledge which had emerged from the sharing of lives, this wisdom was encapsulated into concepts and distinctions for the purpose of dissemination.

It was decided that the HLC programs would have no preaching, that the way to impart the HLC learnings would be through sharing. Basically in the same way that the learings got created. In this way not only would it help participants to have fresher and newer perspectives and open them to newer experiences but would also add to and enhance what was already discerned.

The HLC adopted the tag line or motto “Celebrate Life” and thus the first program “Live The Life You Love” was born. Over time this expanded into the “Celebrate Life” Series of 3 programs and has now been running since early 1995.

In keeping with the HLC goal the program has undergone transformations multiple times as more and more people underwent the programs and contributed their life experiences to enhance the HLC concepts and distinctions.

Over time many more programs have been added and more are being developed using the same philosophy “Wisdom through Experience”.
